Places and Districts

The closest you will find to that big city feel is in Vvardenfell's north-western corner in a place known as Gnisis. For city-dwellers on their first trip into the wild world, coming here will give them that sense of homely comfort. The town is primarily built around a large egg mine, with the various support buildings arrayed on the small plain below them. Most of the people that populate Gnisis are egg miners and the city's economy depends mainly on trading the kwama eggs found in the egg mine. The city also offers a silt strider as a form of travel.

It is also possible to join the Imperial Legion at the Madach's trade house, where you'll find Darius who will allow you to join the legion. Orcs overpopulate the staff here both in the Imperial Cult and Legion, although Commander Darius is an Imperial and the town population is mainly Dunmer. When you first reach Gnisis, the first thing that comes into sight is Fort Darius if coming from the east. From the west gate, you'll see Arvs Den. The fort is just a small wall built into a steep hillside that houses an Imperial Cult altar, Legion smith and troop barracks.

As you pass underneath Fort Darius you are officially in Gnisis. The first building that you will see in front of you is the Madach Tradehouse. Here is where you can find the town trader, Fenas Madach. And here is also where you can find Darius, if you are interested in joining the Imperial Legion. Also, your first few quests for the Imperial Legion are done here. The second building, close to the trade house, is the Barracks. There are rumors that you can find a Talos Cult here. Outside, along the temple you can find several merchants. You can find an armorer and a clothier who have set shop here as well. Inside the temple, you can find the famous Ash Mask of Vivec. If you start heading further back, near the end of Gnisis you will find a house, home to the famous Telvanni noble, Baladas Demnevanni. If you are in House Telvanni, expect to go there sometimes. At the top of Gnisis, bearing down on the city is the egg mine, where most of the city gets its income.
